Lytchett Bay Update
A regular round-up of progress being made at Lytchett Bay, one of our favourite parts of Poole Harbour. The area has suffered decades of neglect and had become a dumping ground for old seacraft and fishing nets; it’s also a sheltered part of the harbour that naturally collects flotsam and jetsam. It’s no one’s fault in particular but we’re working with the local community, fishermen and borough council representatives to clean the place up and reclaim it for residents to enjoy again.
Lytchett Bay Fishermans Hut
We will be working with both landowners and local fisherman to tackle vandalism at Lytchett Bay. We hope to gain permission for the erection of a permanent structure at the bay enabling fisherman to store their equipment safely. This will save fisherman time and money so they are able to focus on their livelihood, and will ensure the safety of local wildlife.
Lytchett Bay Gate
There is sadly a problem with fly tipping at the bay, and we understand that the gate at the entrance hasn’t always been where it is currently located. Again we will be working with the landowners to have the gate moved, allowing only the landowners and fisherman vehicle access to the shore, preventing any further fly tipping.
